My stay at Thale Noi (ทะเลน้อย) in Phattalung Province has been a pleasant surprise. The road leading there (from Songhkla) is totally epic. Over a few kilometers, you got an elevated road over flooded fields. An area filled with birds and herds of water buffalo!
In town, the main attraction is the boat ride over Thale Noi, a lake with an unimaginable amount of pink lotus flowers! The area is also a popular spot for bird lovers in Thailand.
The boat ride cost 450 baht for the whole boat and lasted over an hour. This is a bit expensive when alone like me, but it gets quickly cheap as a group. I started around 6.30 AM when the sun was starting to appear already. I would recommend to go even earlier, when it’s still dark and appreciate the full sunrise on the boat.
If you stay overnight, as I explained that the boat ride is better taken at sunrise, you should not miss the viewpoint on a hill that offers dramatic sunset views! And after the ride, you should try this curry noodles shop on the corner near the pier 🙂
Thale Noi should be on the list of any traveler in the area and if you like birds then you should not miss it at all cost.
